The competition "The best region in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)" is coming to its end within the federal task program Electronic Russia, to be implemented throughout 2002-2010. The competition was conducted with support from the Russian Economic Development and Trade Ministry. This event was organized by RBC, a company that has been working on the Russian market of media and information technologies for more than 10 years. Forty-five Russian regions took part in the competition, including the Moscow and St. Petersburg region. Currently, after a detailed analysis of the results of the competition, winners are being determined in the following nominations: "State support to regional informatization", "Accessibility of ICT", "The use of ICT for regional development" (in education, medicine, culture, business and activities of state governing bodies), "Human capital" (the public's readiness for active use of ICT) and "Business environment." The region where all these aspects and terms of ICT application are most developed will be announced the winner of the competition. The award ceremony will be held on April 25, 2003 in the Congress Center of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
