After you fill in a short application form, your proposal will be considered by a council of experts, comprised of notable politicians, statesmen, public figures, businessmen, scientists and artists. If they find your arguments persuasive, the proposed candidate will be nominated for the Person of the Year 2002 national award. Members of the council can also select nominees. The winners will be selected in two rounds. In the first round, the council of experts will announce preliminary winners (three in each award category), and in the second round, it will choose the best of the best. As for award categories, there will be three Grand Prix awards: Person of the Year in the public and political sphere, in the business sphere and, of course, the main Person of the Year. Persons of the Year will also be selected in state governance, science, education and culture. In addition, the council of experts will choose the best top manager, financier, investor, owner of a small or medium-sized business and a number of other no less important persons. Person of the Year is an annual award. The main aims of the project are to promote unity between the public, the business community and the government, and to attract public attention to those people who have a significant influence on the development of the country. The project has been organized by the Russian news agency RosBusinessConsulting (RBC) . RBC is the organizer of one more national award, Company of the Year. According to RBC's General Director Yuri Rovensky, the success of the Company of the Year was one of the main arguments for the launching of the larger project. Person of the Year 2002 was sponsored by the companies LanCh and Aviator, and informational support was provided by the Izvestia newspaper, Echo of Moscow radio station, The Russia Journal newspaper, journals Delovuye Lyudi (Business People), Boss, Karyera (Career) and our journal. The award ceremony will be held in the Kremlin, as usual. It is scheduled for March 26. Only on this day will the winners of the Person of the Year award be named.
