Itogi (Moscow) - March 30, 2004
Foreign investors' expectations with regard to the Russian economy correspond with those of the Russian government
A Dutch businessman was full of optimism: "Everything goes perfectly in Russia. In fact, given that you were a superpower, developed nuclear weapons and sent a man to the space, high standards are applied to you, which are the same as those applied to developed countries. However, Russia should not be compared to Germany or France, but it should be compared to Mexico or Argentina, and everything would then become logical." This confession, which was made during a lobby interview with a commentator of Itogi at the conference "Russia's Investment Outlooks for a New Presidential Term," organized by RosBusinessConsulting (the conference was held in Davos (Switzerland) recently), is the best indicator of the present attitude of western investors to our country.
