Izvestia (Moscow) - June 24, 2008 Businessmen to escape from the crisis in Cyprus
The next international business conference organized by RBC will be devoted to the global financial crisis. In order to find ways to avoid it, all the leading Russian businessmen and politicians will venture to … Cyprus. The main economic forums that traditionally attract the Russian business elite have moved from London and Davos to Saint Petersburg and Krasnodar. This is the new trend – the Russian economy is growing rapidly and no longer needs advice from its ‘more experienced’ friends. This does not mean, however, that our entrepreneurs are no longer looking for international partnerships. Perhaps that is precisely why RBC has been regularly organizing economic forums in different countries, invariably attracting representatives of the Russian business elite and top government officials who are also genuinely interested in strengthening international ties. RBC’s 18th international business conference will be held on July 2-6 in Cyprus. The topic of the conference - Russia and emerging markets: ways to avoid global financial crises - is incredibly important for everyone. More than 200 representatives of financial groups, asset management companies, investment banks and stock exchanges are expected to participate in the event. Among them are Chairman of VTB Andrei Kostin, President of the Association of Russian Banks Garegin Tosunian, President of Micex Alexander Potyomkin, and many others. The following prominent government officials are also expected to participate in the conference: Russian Presidential Aide Arkady Dvorkovich, First Deputy Chairman of the Bank of Russia Alexei Ulyukayev, Deputy Finance Minister Sergei Shatalov, Deputy Economic Development and Trade Minister Anna Popova, head of the Finance Ministry’s financial policy department Alexei Savatyugin, and head of the Federal Financial Markets Service Vladimir Milovidov. Such a highly respectable delegation will be personally met by President of Cyprus Dimitris Christofias, and the conference’s program will take place at Limassol’s best conference sites. And as if this were not enough, RBC also invited honorary guests to its conference – former President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Jean Lemierre and President of the European Central Bank Jean-Claude Trichet. Izvestia will be sure to report to its readers all the news about this grand-scale event.
