RUSSIA BURIES GLAMOUR IN CHINA

Over the next few weeks dozens of Russian officials headed by Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov will visit China, as well as hundreds of leading Russian businessmen. Two Russian-Chinese economic conferences will be held in China, one of which will be hosted by the Economy Ministry and the other - by RosBusinessConsulting (RBC). Russian clothes designers will also go China for the forum "Goodbye, Glamour! Luxury in simplicity."

From 4 to 10 November 2007, over two hundred Russian businessmen will attend RBC's conference "Russia and China: expectations, risks, perspectives." The official representatives of Russian ministries and governmental departments, members of the Federation Council, other top officials, economists and public figures will go to China together with businessmen. The delegation will visit two cities: Shanghai and Beijing. There will be three main topics on the agenda: what to expect of the Russian-Chinese close relations, what to fear on international markets and how to earn on the two country's growing interest in each other.

In Shanghai the members of the RBC conference will discuss prospects for Russian-Chinese relations, establish business contracts and listen to Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov's report. After that they will all go to Beijing to take part in the Economy Ministry's investment conference, which will be attended by top Chinese and Russian officials, including Russia's Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov, Economy Minister German Gref and Communications Minister Leonid Reyman.

Among the guests and participants of the RBC conference is a group of fashionable reporters, writers and designers, who will take part in the discussion called "Goodbye, Glamour! Luxury in simplicity." The conference will be not only an economic but also a cultural event, featuring concerts of Russian performers, social gatherings and the like.

The RBC business conference is part of the Year of Russia in China, with the support of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Economy Ministry, the Russian Business Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The conference will be held simultaneously with the Russian Economy Ministry's Russian-Chinese investment forum and the Russian National Exhibition in China, timed to coincide with the formal meeting between Russian and Chinese prime ministers.
