Russian Railways has won the category of "Logistics and Cargo Transportation" in the "The Company of the Year 2004" award established by RosBusinessConsulting.

This national award is aimed at attracting the attention of the Russian public and the world business community to the activities of companies that operate on the domestic market, enhancing the investment attractiveness of Russian companies and promoting the country's integration into the world economic system. The winners are selected by an expert council, which includes representatives of businesses and government institutions, as well as economists, scientists, politicians and public figures.

Russian Railways, the award-winner, is a major national company.

Russian Railways President Gennady Fadeyev stressed at the ceremony that the uninterrupted running of railways secured accessibility for the country's economic success. New routes are being laid and railroad infrastructure is being upgraded. Russian industrial producers now receive billions of orders from railway enterprises. This means new jobs and all levels of tax revenue for the budget.

"The Company of the Year" is an award well-deserved. But it also makes the winner work even more efficiently, thus providing an impulse for the development of the domestic economy.
