Bankers seldom watch TV

It seems there are no bankers in Russia, who have not watched the first business TV channel, RBC TV. Some of them turn eyes to TV screens in their offices to keep in touch with recent news. Others start their working day with TV. "I watch TV in the mornings during my morning exercises, Dominic Gualtieri, Alfa Bank Managing Director, said. Usually I start my day with two TV channels: BBC and RBC. One of them informs me about events in the world and the other gets me acquainted with the situation in Russia."

However, if a banker lacks time to sit before a TV screen, he will miss nothing, as he usually learns about all recent developments in the banking sector from his customers. "I work a lot, so I have no free time to watch TV, Andrey Makogon, Vice President of Bank Derzhava, said. But taking into account comments of those, who work with me, RBC TV is very popular. I do not know any customer, who has not watched this business TV channel."

The fact that western business TV channels broadcast programs by RBC TV shows the high quality of its information. Currently RBC is partnering with the majority of key TV channels and agencies, including APTN, German NTV and Deutsche Welle. Starting October 2003, RBC TV is providing reports about Russia to CNN. The company produces a 15-minute weekly program on the Russian economy, which is broadcast on CNBC Europe. This is a special program, which will tell viewers about the Russian banking system, the stock market, and the development of Russian economy sectors.

Russian viewers get access to financial information from abroad thanks to RBC TV not only by watching subject programs such as the Foreign Business program and the Markets program but also directly from foreign TV channels. Russian viewers have been able to get information form foreign trading floors due to the integration of a Bloomberg feed with RBC TV's exchange feed broadcasting system since August 2004.
