RBC AND SUMITOMO CORPORATION ANNOUNCE STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP
RosBusinessConsulting (RBC) and one of the largest world holdings Sumitomo Corporation (Japan) have entered into a strategic alliance. Within this alliance, RBC and Sumitomo will start the development and implementation of joint telecommunications projects.
“At the moment, RBC is turning from organic growth to expansion: the Company is entering new markets and starting work in industries allied with high-tech,” Chairman of the RBC Board of Directors German Kaplun was quoted as saying. “We are sure that with the combined abilities of RBC and Sumitomo our alliance will make serious achievements in the telecommunications industry. ”
“Sumitomo is attaching great importance to the strategic partnership with RBC, one of the most dynamically developing Russian companies, whose potential we think is unique,” head of the Moscow office of Sumitomo Corporation Mr. Nakazava said. “I hope that joint projects of Sumitomo and RBC will help implement the set business tasks and increase revenues of both companies in Russia.”
Sumitomo Corporation is one of the largest international corporations. Sumitomo is in 18th place among the largest world companies in the Global 500 rating published by the US magazine Fortune. Revenues of this corporation totaled $91.168m in 2001. Strategic partners of Sumitomo Corporation on the telecommunications market are the US companies NEC Corporation, Lucent Technologies and Nortel Networks, Japanese Sony, Toshiba, Fujitsu and Hitachi. Among Sumitomo’s telecommunications projects implemented in Russia for a total of about $650m were the construction of the Trans-Siberia digital radio-relay communication line Moscow-Khabarovsk as well as the construction of fiber-optic lines Moscow-St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk-Khabarovsk.
