Over 50 clients received SSL certificates at RBC
RBC has become the only distributor of Thawte (a VeriSign company) in Russia, the largest company distributing SSL certificates.
RosBusinessConsulting has become the only representative of Thawte, the largest supplier of solutions for Internet and intranet security, authentification and cryptographic protection for corporate and private users, in Russia. Thawte issues digital certificates necessary for any company dealing with e-commerce. Earlier, Russian companies had to spend a lot of time and efforts to receive such a certificate. Now there is no such problem: services by the Russian distributor of Thawte have substantially simplified the procedure.
VeriSign has so far issued over 215,000 certificates for websites and over 3.9 million certificates for private users. The company's sales volume reached $277.4 million in the first three quarters of 2000.
The certificate's main purpose is to confirm authenticity of information and absence of errors in it. For example, a certified website gives its users an absolute guarantee that any wrongdoers have not replaced its pages with some other information on the way to the addressee. The 'double key' technology used allows for a reverse operation: coding of data on the way from a client to the server to protect critical information (personal data, credit card information, etc.). Accordingly, the certification system is a basis for safe operation of commercial applications on the Internet.
