Gazprom looking to bulk up Belarusian transits
RBC, 22.11.2012, Minsk 16:38:31.Gazprom explores the possibility of increasing Europe-bound natural gas transits through Belarus by 30%, the gas monopoly's CEO Alexey Miller said after a meeting with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko. According to Miller, it could take Gazprom up to four years to deliver on this target, and the first steps to upgrade the country's gas transportation system would be taken in 2013. Overall, this project is expected to cost Gazprom some $2bn, Miller noted. He went on to say that Gazprom's transits via Belarus are expected to total 44.5bcm in full-year 2012, and deliveries to the country's market could amount to 22bcm, up 10% year-on-year, adding that Belarus should expand its underground storage facilities in order to ensure stable supplies.
