Parties push for electoral reform
RBC, 26.01.2012, Moscow 13:49:03.The leaders of three parliamentary parties and presidential candidates have proposed revamping Russia's electoral system. Communist Party's Gennady Zyuganov proposed making it mandatory for all presidential contenders to take part in the debates. Also, all presidential candidates, with the exception of the president and members of parliament, should take leave during the presidential campaign and electoral commissions should be formed on a party basis, which would make such expensive measures as installing web cameras at polling stations irrelevant. Liberal Democratic Party of Russia's (LDPR) Vladimir Zhirinovsky proposed abolishing advance voting, voting at home and by absentee ballots and to ensure protection of observers. Just Russia's Sergey Mironov called for reinstating the none-of-the-above ballot option.
