Ministry could jack up coal export duties
RBC, 26.01.2012, Moscow 11:58:34.Russia's Energy Ministry may propose hiking export duties on some grades of coal to address rising coal prices and a shortage on the domestic market, Energy Minister Sergey Shmatko said at a meeting today. "There are no objective reasons for a 15%-20% rise in coal prices or a shortage of some grades of coal. If prices continue to go up, we'll have to reconsider the issue of raising export duties on coal," the minister said.
