Ukraine expects progress in Trasnistria crisis talks

      RBC, 27.05.2011, Kiev 14:43:01.Ukrainian Foreign Ministry expects to see progress in the resolution of the Trasnistria crisis in 2011, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Konstantin Grishchenko said at a meeting of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly's standing committee today.

      Ukraine joined the 5+2 negotiations format (where Russia, Ukraine and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe act as guarantors and intermediaries, the EU and the U.S. are observers, while Moldova and Trasnistria are parties to the conflict), he reiterated. Ukraine holds regular consultations on this issue and sent its permanent envoy to the region.

      Grishchenko said he intends to discuss the settlement of the conflict with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov on June 3-4 in Odessa. The negotiations are expected to continue in Moscow in summer 2011.
