Russia posts 7-month trade surplus
RBC, 08.09.2010, Moscow 18:41:12.Russia's trade surplus stood at $105.5bn in January-July 2010, 62 percent greater than in the first seven months of 2009, the Federal Customs Service reported today. The trade surplus with countries outside the CIS and Baltic states stood at $91.8bn (up $39.4bn), and that with the CIS at $13.7bn (up $1.1bn). Foreign trade (including trade with Belarus) amounted to $333.5bn, having increased 41 percent compared to January-July 2009. Russia's exports climbed 45.6 percent to $219.5bn, with $189.1bn worth of exports to countries outside the CIS and Baltic states (up 48.6 percent), and $30.4bn in exports to the CIS (up 29.1 percent). Fuel and energy exports accounted for 71.5 percent of the total structure in the first seven months of this year. Meanwhile, imports stood at $114bn (a 32.9-percent rise), including $97.3bn worth of imports from countries outside the CIS and Baltic states, and $16.7bn from the CIS. The EU was Russia's main economic partner in the reporting period, while the Netherlands, China, Germany, Italy, Turkey, the U.S., France, Poland, Japan, and Korea were its key trade partners.
