Naftogaz, Gazprom unlikely to ever merge, Ukraine's energy minister says
RBC, 08.09.2010, Kiev 16:50:14.Ukraine's Fuel and Energy Minister Yury Boyko does not expect Naftogaz of Ukraine and Gazprom to merge. He made this statement during the cabinet meeting, RBC Ukraine reported. "Our president's position clearly states that any mergers are possible only on a parity basis, and national interests must always be taken into account," the minister stated. According to Boyko, 'parity' means principles that provide opportunities for the development of Ukraine's economy, ensure a "convenient gas price" and are in line with the country's national interests. At the same time, when asked whether Gazprom and Naftogaz of Ukraine would merge if all these conditions were met, Boyko answered with a flat-out "No."
