Vimpelcom Ltd. looks to buy foreign assets
RBC, 02.09.2010, Moscow 17:38:51.Vimpelcom Ltd. chief Alexander Izosimov has confirmed that the company was in talks with Egyptian billionaire Naguib Sawiris on the purchase of African-Asian assets of Orascom Telecom and Italy's Wind Telecomunicazioni. He made this statement during a press conference today, noting that he could not reveal any details of the potential deals. Izosimov also indicated that the Russian-Ukrainian telecommunications company was poised to make semi-annual dividend payouts. He added that the company's dividend policy would be based on the principal of paying out at least 50 percent of the company's free cash flow in Russia and Ukraine. According to him, the company currently possesses over $2bn in free cash.
