Moscow: U.S. troop withdrawal to help Iraq secure sovereignty
RBC, 01.09.2010, Moscow 18:52:59.Moscow sees the U.S. troops' withdrawal from Iraq as an important event in terms of the latter country's sovereignty. The Russian Foreign Ministry's information and media department indicated that the move would allow the Iraqi people to decide their own destiny without external pressure. Considering the U.S. military's withdrawal from Iraq, the country's political forces must now reach an agreement on the formation of the government and other executive bodies. The ministry further indicated that the formation of the government would help create an atmosphere for establishing internal understanding on key matters. This will then afford Iraq the ability to ensure national security without foreign help, rehabilitation of the economy, and settlement of the most pressing social problems. The ministry expressed willingness to provide Iraq with assistance in the implementation of these goals.
