Ukraine: VTB may finance joint investment projects

RBC, 04.08.2010, Kiev 16:54:57.Russia's VTB may finance Ukrainian-Russian investment projects, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Andrei Klyuyev announced at the cabinet meeting in Kiev today. "We are actively working on attracting potential investors. Specifically, we have agreed upon investment projects with Russia in the sphere of aircraft engineering, shipbuilding, and nuclear engineering," the official stated.

Klyuyev also stressed that international agencies had already boosted Ukraine's long-term credit ratings three times in 2010, and EBRD revised the GDP growth forecast for this year upwards. "This is a clear sign of international investors viewing Ukraine as a country capable of sustaining positive development trends. Cheaper lending resources will promote economic growth, and this opportunity must be used to modernize national production," he said. As reported earlier, Ukraine and Russia are in talks on a loan for the construction of two blocks at the Khmelnitsky nuclear power plant.
