Demand for innovations to be stimulated by gov't
RBC, 19.03.2010, Moscow 12:48:11.Economic Development Minister Elvira Nabiullina has deemed it necessary to promote the Russian economy's demand for innovations. At the extended board meeting of the Education and Science Ministry, she announced that current demand for innovations was extremely low. "We need to provide incentives for private companies and state corporations, and state purchases also play a vital role," the minister stated. Nabiullina noted that the government must also determine whether or not incentives for businesses using innovations actually work. The Economy Ministry has already drafted instructions on the development of innovative policy for the representatives of state companies. The official stressed that many companies completely lacked such programs, adding that some RUB 426bn (approx. USD 14.58bn) would be allocated for R&D in 2010.
