VimpelCom and Kyivstar may finalize merger by April
RBC, 09.02.2010, Moscow 13:19:20.Telecommunication companies Vimpelcom and Kyivstar are poised to finalize the deal on an asset merger by the end of April 2010, head of the future company VimpelCom Ltd. Alexander Izosimov told journalists during a conference call today. He indicated that the official countdown to the merger of the two companies would begin today - the day when VimpelCom Ltd. made an offer to VimpelCom on the purchase of its shares and American Depositary Receipts (ADS) for cash, and by exchanging VimpelCom Ltd's depositary receipts, which represent the company's shares, for VimpelCom's common shares. After the completion of the offer, VimpelCom Ltd. plans to purchase all of Kyivstar G.S.M.'s placed shares. Izosimov also stated that the deal requires approval from Ukrainian authorities.
