Real effective ruble rate firms
RBC, 08.02.2010, Moscow 17:38:13.The real effective ruble rate climbed 6.8 percent against foreign currencies in January 2010 on a year-on-year basis, the Bank of Russia's documents indicate. Compared with December 2009, the rate added 2.5 percent. Year on year, the real ruble rate surged 11.2 percent against the U.S. dollar, and 5.6 percent against the euro. The month-on-month growth amounted to 1.8 and 3.8 percent against the dollar and euro, respectively. The nominal effective ruble rate inched up 1.8 percent year on year, including a 5.1 percent rise against the dollar and a 1.1 percent drop against the euro. Meanwhile, the nominal rate remained unchanged against the dollar compared with December 2009, and rose 2.3 percent against the euro.
