Russia ranks 3rd in EU in inflation
RBC, 26.11.2009, Moscow 12:25:00.Russia ranks third in Europe, after Belarus and Ukraine, in terms of its inflation level in January-October 2009, the Russian Federal Statistics Service (Rosstat) reported today, citing Eurostat. Accrued inflation stood at 8.1 percent in Russia, 8.3 percent in Belarus and 10.1 percent in Ukraine. The average inflation rate in the European Union stood at 1 percent over the reporting period. In October of this year, consumer prices increased the most in Turkey (2.4 percent). At the same time, prices on food products rose the most in France, Austria and Belgium in October compared to September. Meanwhile, in Russia, food product prices slid 0.8 percent in October and inched up 4 percent since the beginning of the year.
