No sanctions for Ukraine, PM says
RBC, 20.11.2009, Yalta 10:45:03.Gazprom will not impose any penalties on Naftogaz of Ukraine for taking out less natural gas than was originally contracted in 2009, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin announced during talks with his Ukrainian counterpart Yulia Timoshenko. Putin stated that punitive sanctions were a common practice in the world, and Russia had signed corresponding agreements with all of its European partners. He added that Russia understood Ukraine's complex economic situation, however, and could therefore justify the drop in consumption. He went on to assure Timoshenko that there would be no sanctions.
