Russian president and PM have stable approval ratings
RBC, 19.11.2009, Moscow 17:39:10.The Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) conducted a poll on the approval of state institutions and level of trust in politicians in November 2009. According to the poll, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has an approval rating of 70-71 percent, virtually unchanged from 73 percent in September-October. His approval rating peaked in July-August of this year, when it jumped from 71 to 77 percent. Meanwhile, the public's overall level of trust in the president stood at 43-45 percent in November. At the same time, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's approval rating stood at 73 percent for the first half of November. The rise in the PM's approval rating was registered simultaneously with the president's - in July-August 2009, when it climbed from 74 to 80 percent. Putin's trust level stood at 54-55 percent in early November, and it has been stable for the last several months. The Russian government's approval rating reached 50 percent, after sliding from 54 percent, while the State Duma boasts a 34-35-percent approval rating. The Federation Council's approval rating was 36 percent. The poll was conducted among 1,600 people in 140 locations throughout 42 republics and regions of Russia on November 14-15.
