Russia closes deals with all partners in South Stream project
RBC, 16.11.2009, Moscow 12:25:11.Russia has signed agreements on the South Stream gas pipeline project's implementation with all of its European partners, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said after the meeting with his Slovenian counterpart Borut Pahor. "Having signed the last of the agreements, the energy ministers of the two countries have finalized the deal," Putin said. He also indicated that the process of negotiations was quite complex, but the two countries managed to reach an agreement. An insider in the Russian government indicated that thanks to Slovenia's participation in the project, Russian gas will be delivered directly to the boundary with Italy - the project's target market. "This means that we now have all the necessary elements for the implementation of the South Stream project," the source stated, adding that the necessary political and legal basis was being created to enable Gazprom and its Slovenian partner to embark on the project's realization.
