Consumer prices unchanged in October

      RBC, 03.11.2009, Moscow 17:02:06.A rise in consumer prices fell to zero in October, and accrued inflation since the beginning of the year stood at 8.1 percent, the Russian Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) reported today. Meanwhile, accrued inflation stood at 0.9 percent in October 2008 and 11.6 percent in January-October of last year.

      A total of 31 Russian regions registered a decrease in prices in October. Inflation stood at 0.2 percent in October in both Moscow and St. Petersburg. The year-on-year consumer prices increased 9.7 percent, with food products going up 7.6 percent and non-food products gaining 9.6 percent. Prices on services climbed 12.7 percent year-on-year.

      The highest decrease was registered in vegetables and potatoes - between 10-15.9 percent.

      Gasoline prices lost 0.2-1.7 percent.

      The consumer price index amounted to 100.3 percent in October and 107.6 percent since the beginning of the year.
