State Statistics Service reports past week's inflation
RBC, 25.03.2009, Moscow 16:59:52.Inflation stood at 0.2 percent in Russia between March 17 and 23, and at 0.8 for the month-to-date, the Federal State Statistics Service said. Over the same week in 2008, consumer prices grew 0.9 percent. March inflation amounted to 1.2 percent, and it reached 4.5 percent in the first three months of 2008. Over the week in question, prices for granulated sugar and tea went up 1.8 and 1.2 percent, respectively, while sausages, canned meat, frozen fish, rice and some confectionery went up 0.6-1 percent in value. Meanwhile, sunflower oil dropped 0.8 percent in price, while the drop in prices for cottage cheese, chicken and sour cream ranged between 1 and 0.4 percent. Gasoline grew 0.4 percent cheaper, and diesel oil 0.9 percent.
