Kiev statement of 36-hour gas flow gap raises eyebrows
RBC, 13.01.2009, Moscow 12:39:20.The Ukrainian announcement that it will take 36 hours after flows resume for Russian natural gas to cross Ukraine's western border causes bewilderment and is not in line with the contract, said Gazprom's official spokesman Sergei Kupriyanov. He added that the amount of gas leaving Ukraine on its western border must be strictly equal to the amount entering the country's gas transporting system. A request to ensure that Ukraine's gas transit facilities are ready to receive the fuel was timely cabled to Naftogaz of Ukraine, Kupriyanov stated.
