Presidential aide calls for reliable banking sector
RBC, 28.11.2008, Moscow 15:59:13.Steady economic growth is impossible without a reliable banking sector in Russia, Presidential Aide Arkady Dvorkovich said during a meeting of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP). He added that conditions must be created for banks to extend loans comfortably. Dvorkovich reiterated that some time ago several banks were suspected of the non-use of funds which had been specifically granted to them to provide support for Russian companies. Banks keeping government money without good reason instead of lending it will be "talked to separately," Dvorkovich said. He noted, however, that some of those banks had already taken the hint from the government and adjusted their policies.
