Euro creeps up vs. ruble on weaker dollar
RBC, 21.11.2008, Moscow 14:22:49.The Bank of Russia has set the official euro exchange rate for November 22-24 at 34.5215 RUB/EUR, which is nearly RUB 0.02 higher than the previous official rate. Meanwhile, the euro was trading at 34.4975 RUB/EUR at the session for today deals, virtually unchanged from the close of trading on Thursday. The euro's appreciation against the ruble on the domestic market can be attributed to the situation on international exchanges. The euro is now trading at USD 1.2627, up from USD 1.2472 at the opening of the session. Positive dynamics on the European stock markets and an increase in the price for oil have supported the euro on FOREX, which is likely to result in the ruble's further decline against the euro on MICEX. As of 1:35 p.m., the dollar was changing hands at 27.4925 RUB/USD, which is roughly RUB 0.04 lower than its level at the previous session's close.
