CPC shareholders gearing up to increase project capacity
RBC, 19.11.2008, Moscow 16:37:20.The shareholders of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) have agreed to sign a memorandum in December stipulating the terms of increasing the project's capacity, Igor Dyomin, head of the press office of Transneft, the Russian oil transportation company holding a 31-percent stake in the consortium, told journalists today. He explained that the memorandum would be signed by all CPC shareholders except for BP, as the shareholders concluded that there was a conflict of interests between BP and other participants in the project. Therefore, they do not rule out the possibility that a lawsuit will be filed against BP based on case law that is used in the United Kingdom, once the memorandum has been signed.
