VTB-Barclays share swap rumors denied
RBC, 28.10.2008, Moscow 19:58:12.VTB has received no share swap proposals from the UK-based bank Barclays, Russia's Deputy PM and Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin told journalists today. He added that no such proposals have been submitted to the Russian bank's supervisory board. This statement was made in response to today's media reports that Barclays could swap a small stake (nearly 5 percent) with a major Russian state-run bank. Sberbank was said to have considered such a possibility, but its supervisory board declined the deal. It has also been suggested that the share swap could take place between Barclays and VTB.
