Central Bank deposits another $7bn in banks
RBC, 27.10.2008, Moscow 17:36:42.Russia's Central Bank deposited roughly RUB 200bn (approx. USD 7.39bn) in commercial banks during an auction for unsecured loans today, the bank's chief Sergei Ignatyev said during a cabinet meeting. Given the results of today's auction, Ignatyev added, the total amount of funds placed by the Central Bank has reached some RUB 600bn (approx. USD 22.2bn). Answering Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's question of how he assessed the current situation, Ignatyev noted that it was still fairly difficult and there had been no considerable improvement. At the same time, however, he pointed out that on the whole banks had received the necessary funds.
