Russia's marketing sector to expand
RBC, 27.10.2008, Moscow 11:37:11.According to preliminary data from the Russian Association of Communication Agencies' marketing services committee, Russia's marketing industry will grow 15 to 18 percent to RUB 70bn (approx. USD 2.59bn) in 2008 compared with the previous year, the RBC Daily newspaper reported today. Experts, however, are not ready to announce their final forecast for 2009 before the spring. The market has remained virtually unscathed by the financial crisis, the committee's Chairman Irina Vasenina told RBC Daily. She also noted that the crisis might prompt companies to shift marketing budgets towards below-the-line (BTL) sales promotion. Granted, marketing companies are going through a tough period that may very well last until the summer of 2009, Vasenina said. She expressed hope, however, that the advertising budget situation would improve by the end of next year and the sector would see more growth in 2010.
