Russian banks call for simpler loan procedure
RBC, 14.10.2008, Moscow 17:28:50.Russia's Association of Regional Banks has requested that the Central Bank simplify the procedure for extending loans to Russian banks. The association's President Anatoly Aksakov made such a suggestion in a letter to the Central Bank's Chairman Sergei Ignatyev. Along with several other measures, he also suggested that the Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs (Vnesheconombank) grant mid- and long-term loans to Russian banks against shares of credit institutions. The association believes that even a partial implementation of these steps would enhance the Russian banking sector's stability.
