Medvedev calls for sports development in Russia
RBC, 14.10.2008, Odintsovo 15:58:42.It is vital to work out a clear and balanced strategy for Russia's physical education and sports development, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said during today's meeting in Odintsovo, a Russian city just outside Moscow. The ideal is to encourage at least half of Russians - including at least 80 percent of children - to get involved in sports, Medvedev noted. The president also stressed that the regional bodies, the sports community, and businesses must strive to achieve this goal. He added that it was necessary to improve the physical education system in Russia's schools, colleges, and universities.
