New telecommunications R&D fund underway
RBC, 03.10.2008, Moscow 10:32:38.Since the research center for telecommunications development studies was liquidated, Svyazinvest's subsidiaries have been exempt from annual deductions. However, now interregional distribution companies will have to allocate double the size of their previous deductions - up to 2 percent of their annual revenue - to the industry's new R&D fund, which is to be financed partly with their contributions, RBC Daily was told. This will cost Svyazinvest up to $200m a year. According to a source close to Svyazinvest, the decision has received approval from the Telecommunications Ministry, though no official decree has been issued so far.
