Russia sees no threats from Poland
RBC, 11.09.2008, Warsaw 19:59:21.Russia sees no threat from Poland, yet it is concerned with the US missile shield being deployed close to Russia's borders, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated during his visit to Warsaw today. Russia's security has been jeopardized as the US missile defense system has been brought right up to its borders, he noted, adding that if it did not target Russia, it would not be used for a long time. As for Georgia's accession to NATO, Lavrov stated that it would be wrong to artificially incorporate a country into the alliance, and the problems could be solved without NATO's technical expansion and approaching towards Russia's border. Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, in turn, expressed hope that Russia's concerns over the missile shield would be allayed, and stated that Warsaw vowed to use its best efforts to facilitate it.
