Medvedev warns NATO over severing ties with Russia
RBC, 25.08.2008, Moscow 16:10:46.Russia is prepared to make any resolution regarding its relations with NATO, even to the point of ceasing cooperation, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev was quoted by the Mayak radio station as saying during a meeting with the country's Ambassador to NATO Dmitry Rogozin. The leader said that after the military standoff in South Ossetia, Russia's relations with the alliance deteriorated sharply, and "we are not the ones to blame for that." Medvedev stressed that NATO was interested in cooperation with Russia in the first place, not vice versa. He added that it would be "no big deal" for Russia if NATO were to break off ties with Russia. The President called on the alliance's member states to prevent any further deterioration of relations with Russia, which could lead to an end of cooperation between Russia and NATO.
