Euro regains footing vs. ruble
RBC, 19.08.2008, Moscow 16:17:04.Slightly over an hour before the close of today's special euro trading session for tomorrow deals, the high on deals stood at 36.12 RUB/EUR, which is RUB 0.14, or 0.4 percent, higher than the official rate set by the Bank of Russia for August 20. The weighted average exchange rate reached 36.04 RUB/EUR. Therefore, the euro has advanced significantly against the ruble on the domestic market. The current developments on MICEX can be traced to the US currency's noticeable appreciation against the euro on international exchanges. The latter is now buying roughly USD 1.4685, up from nearly USD 1.4650.
