North Ossetia appeals for Russian help in S. Ossetia
RBC, 09.08.2008, Moscow 13:12:38.The parliament of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania has passed an appeal to Russia's President Dmitry Medvedev, Federation Council Chairman Sergei Mironov, State Duma Chairman Boris Gryzlov and the international community, South Ossetia's State Committee for Information and Press reported. The document it signed by Larisa Khabitsova, Chairperson of the North Ossetian parliament. "On Thursday night, following a series of provocations and false promises, Georgia treacherously attacked South Ossetia, in violation of all international norms. By doing so, Georgia has revealed its true goal - the genocide of Ossetian people. The multinational people of North Ossetia is full of indignation over the actions of Georgian politicians, which crossed all moral boundaries," the statement reads. "We feel completely unprotected, the small Ossetian people is facing the threat of destruction," North Ossetia's lawmakers stressed, appealing for Russian authorities to "take urgent and effective measure to protect Russian citizens in South Ossetia." "We are also calling on the international community to take urgent measures to stop the bloodshed, resume peace negotiations and find a political solution to the South Ossetian problem," the document says.
