TVEL to boost its nuclear fuel market share

      RBC, 29.07.2008, Moscow 15:48:46.TVEL Corporation plans to increase its share on the global nuclear fuel market to 30 percent by 2030, the Rosatom state corporation said in a statement. The document reads that there are currently 67 Russian-designed reactors in operation worldwide, while western-made pressurized water reactors (PWRs) number 214. The plan is to increase Russian-designed reactors to 145 by 2030, while the number of PWRs will rise to 350.

      TVEL's share on the global nuclear fuel market currently amounts to 17 percent, while Frances' AREVA accounts for 30 percent, the US's Westinghouse for 26 percent, and the US-Japanese company Global Nuclear Fuels (GNF) for 17 percent. Moreover, TVEL expects to nearly double its sales by 2020. The corporation's sales are projected to reach RUB 55bn (approx. USD 2.35bn) in 2008, RUB 70.5bn (approx. USD 3.02bn) in 2015, and RUB 105.8bn (approx. USD 4.53) by 2020.
