Pepsi-Cola given green light to take over Lebedyansky
RBC, 18.07.2008, Moscow 14:53:55.Russia's Federal Anti-Monopoly Service (FAS) has made a decision to grant Pepsi-Cola Ltd.'s (PepsiCo's Bermuda offshore subsidiary) request for the acquisition of 100 percent of voting shares in the Russian juice producer Lebedyansky, the regulator said in a statement. The FAS has established that the acquisition deal will not limit competition on the corresponding commodity markets. Once the transaction is complete, Pepsi-Cola Ltd. will become one of the leading juice producers in Russia. As reported earlier, PepsiCo reached an agreement in March 2008 to acquire 75.53 percent in the Russian juice producer Lebedyansky (excluding the baby food and mineral water businesses), held by the company's four majority shareholders, at $88.02 per share. PepsiCo planned to increase its stake in Lebedyansky to 100 percent in future.
