Russia to protect its national interests
RBC, 15.07.2008, Moscow 14:11:10.Russia needs to protect its national interests without any confrontations, President Dmitry Medvedev said during today's meeting with Russian ambassadors and permanent representatives in international organizations. He pointed out that the world, which had been able to overcome the cold war, was struggling to find the right balance at the moment. Medvedev also added that a number of matters were being solved by military means. Therefore, he noted that it was important to assert national interests independently and in cooperation with various partners. The Russian leader also stressed the importance of protecting the rights of the Russian-speaking population of other countries, the Echo of Moscow radio station reports.
