RTS index sets new record
RBC, 16.05.2008, Moscow 18:49:36.The RTS index has set a new all-time high by reaching the level of 2,478.87 points at the close of today's session. According to the exchange's report, the previous record was registered on Thursday at 2,411.95 points. Meanwhile, the RTS index reached its highest level during the day at 2,478.87 points, exceeding the previous record of 2,439.05 points registered yesterday. The RTS index futures to be delivered in June 2008 closed at 2,472.50 points, which is 6.37 points lower than the previous showing. Therefore, traders are optimistic and believe that the Russian stock market will be strong and the RTS index will hover around 2,500 points by the end of June, analysts from the RTS Stock Exchange say.
