Gov't to amend GLONASS federal target program
RBC, 16.05.2008, Moscow 13:18:44.The Russian government is planning to make amendments to the Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS) federal target program before the end of May, Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov said during today's meeting of the military-industrial government commission. He noted that the program funding would be increased, which was projected to result in the creation of a fully operational constellation consisting of 24 satellites by 2011. The move is expected to enable Russia to better deal with defense and security matters, as well as boost its social and economic development and international cooperation, Ivanov noted.
