Russian and European space agencies joint efforts
RBC, 14.05.2008, Moscow 13:59:39.The Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) will team up with the European Space Agency (ESA) to develop a new transport spacecraft for low-earth orbit and lunar flights, the Russian agency's press office reported. The two parties signed an agreement, taking into account that each of them had the technology and experience to develop different space systems, which puts them into a position to develop a state-of-the-art vehicle for manned flights with a crew of up to 6 people. Energia Rocket and Space Corporation together with Thales Alenia Space and EADS Astrium have been working on possible versions for the spacecraft concept for half a year. At their meeting in early May, Roscosmos and ESA representatives resolved to finalize documents setting forth the outline of the future spaceship's specifications in October 2008.
