Putin outlines gov't priorities
RBC, 08.05.2008, Moscow 15:28:22.Former Russian President Vladimir Putin named the top priority tasks of the Russian government in his speech preceding the vote on his PM nomination a the State Duma today. He said that Russia and its people needed to see prospects for their future and prosperity. According to Putin, the government should facilitate people's comprehensive growth by fostering education, healthcare, science, and cultural and social policy. Putin added that, secondly, the government should set the economy on the innovative path, and, thirdly, develop its transportation, housing, utilities, energy, financial, and informational infrastructure. Moreover, the work of state and non-governmental organizations should be modernized. The PM candidate said these spheres were interconnected and were unable to develop in isolation. Moving towards the accomplishment of these goals will require highly professional and responsible work of the government, Putin stressed.
