Gov't under Putin to tackle food market problems
RBC, 08.05.2008, Moscow 14:01:47.Vladimir Putin has pledged that the new government will consider as its primary task to ensure uninterrupted operation of the Russian food market, he told the State Duma preceding a vote to approve his PM nomination. He believes that ensuring stability in the work of the domestic food market and protecting it from sharp global price fluctuations is the topmost economic, social, and political task. The PM candidate also indicated that the domestic agribusiness complex as a whole needed to a great deal of attention, reiterating that a steep climb in food prices on the world market in mid-2007 had a serious impact on the situation on the domestic market and the welfare of Russian citizens.
