Putin urges mainstream approach to investment
RBC, 08.05.2008, Moscow 13:44:35.Former Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed the need to create a truly mainstream class of investors during his speech at the State Duma's plenary session, at which his Prime Minister nomination is being considered. An environment needs to be created where people even with modest savings could have the possibility of investing in the national economy, Putin said, adding that the emergence of large public companies should be stimulated and their successful share offerings on the open market ensured. Putin urged the facilitation of a comfortable tax regime on the securities market, stressing that decisions on these matters should be passed and a clear action plan devised by the end of the year.
